I grew up on the Little Boy in Canton, P.T.’s Olde Fashioned Grille in Wilmington, and Ammons Drive-In & Dairy Bar in Maggie Valley. Naturally, I’ve got a soft spot for a good burger joint. And just like with everything else—I prefer them local.
So when I got the invite to Corbett’s Burgers & Soda Bar’s media day at their new Holly Springs location, you better believe I was already reaching for my keys.
The manager greeted us with such kindness—comped our meal, handed me a small gift, and included a handwritten card that honestly brought tears to my eyes. It was such a thoughtful gesture, but truthfully, not necessary. I’m always glad to support a quality local business—and Corbett’s is definitely that.
Stepping into Corbett’s feels like walking into a fizzy flashback. The place is packed with vintage soda memorabilia: old bottle crates, snapshots of classic soda fountains, and just the right amount of quirky charm. It’s nostalgia in a bottle—literally.

At the heart of it all is owner Corbett Shope. His love of soda started back on his grandfather’s farm in Harnett County and grew into a full-blown passion. What began as a few family heirloom bottles passed down from his great-grandmother has turned into something huge. When Corbett’s first opened, they had just seven sodas. Now? The coolers are stocked with over 250.

There’s something for everyone—North Carolina favorites like Cheerwine and Pepsi, plus some wildcards like sweet corn, bacon, and ranch soda. And if you’re into root beer? You’ve got 41 varieties to choose from.
Of course, they’ve got tea, too—served up with the kind of sassy North Carolina humor that lets you know you’re among your people.

And let’s not forget the “burgers” part of the name. These are the real deal: juicy, made-to-order, and packed with flavor. I ordered the Pimento Cheese Burger, and y’all—it was perfect. Belle got the Sodalicious Burger and gave it two thumbs up. She sipped on a classic root beer float while I went with a strawberry milkshake. Both hit the spot.

So if you find yourself near Holly Springs, do yourself a favor: swing by Corbett’s. Grab a burger, try a soda you’ve never heard of, and soak up the nostalgia. You might leave with a new favorite cold drink—or at the very least, a full belly and a smile.
