I did it, y’all! The podcast is officially available on video.
I still can’t quite wrap my head around that sentence. Two years ago, I was just trying to work up the courage to hit record and let people hear my voice. Now I’m loading up the car, traveling across the state, and sitting down with folks on camera.
Turns out fear doesn’t disappear—you just outgrow it.
Praise Jesus for that, because this shift has opened the door to all kinds of conversations—yes, even politics. Thankfully, the nerves have finally taken a backseat, replaced by a calm I didn’t know I’d ever have behind a microphone.
I kicked things off in Asheville with Kay Olsen and Abbi Carson of Fix Buncombe, diving into everything from education to the Buncombe 2043 plan. Then came Dane Scalise—New Hanover County Commissioner and candidate for NC House District 20—bringing energy, clarity, and real insight into the issues facing our coast. And today’s episode features Matt Mercer, Communications Director for the North Carolina GOP, offering a rare peek behind the party curtain.
But don’t worry—this isn’t turning into a political show. Far from it. My passion to preserve NC culture is still alive and well:
- We’re diving deep into the Battle of Moore’s Creek and its pivotal role in early American history.
- We’re unpacking the chilling legend of the Beast of Bladenboro (that 1950s vampire-cat mystery still gives me chills).
- A private tour of Harmony Hall is in the works.
- And we’re doing a fun, laid-back meet-and-greet with Wilmington TikTok star Skaterat910.
Same heart. Bigger table. So pull up a chair and sit a spell—there’s a lot to talk about.
